Helen Key Counselling.

How I Work

Confidential, non-judgemental and down-to-earth, I will aim to develop a supportive relationship with you, where you feel safe to talk about difficulties you are experiencing and to be yourself.  I use an integrative counselling approach, which has a basis in humanistic/person centred practice.  This means that I might use a variety of methods, theories and techniques, including CBT, to suit each individual and the issues that concern them.   A humanistic counsellor works to understand your experience from your point of view and believes that we all have the potential to make changes and grow.

I am currently employed in the field of addiction and have a particular interest in substance dependency and eating disorders.  In my private practice I also work with depression, low self-esteem, bereavement and loss, to name a few areas.

I have a Professional Diploma in Counselling and am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).  I work in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework (a copy of this is available on request).

Counselling sessions are 50 minutes long and usually take place once a week.  The fee for each session is £35.

24 hour notice is required for cancellations, otherwise a fee will be charged.

I work at:
Bristol Natural Health Service
407 Gloucester Road, Bristol BS7 8TS

Appointments can be made via the clinic or with me direct on 07803 505949.

About Counselling

Counsellors help people to explore feelings and emotions that are often related to their experiences. This allows them to reflect on what is happening to them and consider alternative ways of doing things. Working in a confidential setting, counsellors listen attentively to their clients and offer them the time, empathy and respect they need to express their own feelings and perhaps understand themselves from a different perspective. The aim is reduce their confusion and enable them to make changes in their life if they decide to do so.

Counsellors do not give advice, but help clients to make their own choices within the framework of an agreed counselling contract.
